Welcome

Welcome to my website!

Here you will find a collection of novenas, prayers, inspired art, book reviews and links to videos and teachings that have been helpful to me as I continue my faith journey.

For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. [ Ephesians 6:12]
Who is the author of this site?

I am a Catholic convert from the Protestant faith (Born into a Presbyterian clan, grew up singing in the choir, encountered Bible Baptists in high school through Campus Crusade for Christ  — sang in the Campus Life singers where we traveled around doing concerts and giving our testimonies, worshiped with the Methodists in college — again music drew me in as I became the accompanist to the Wesley Foundation singers and once again traveled to many churches performing “Celebrate Life” (a beautiful musical about the passion of Christ). In my second year of college, I got married, moved to another state, transferred schools and became a Presbyterian choir director in my late teens/early twenties while still in college.

I suppose we tend to gravitate back to our roots — mine was growing up in the country, and if we are fortunate, those roots are well formed. For me, some were and some were not. As a young strong-willed female, the allure of working in the world and the city life soon drew me in many directions and I fell away from the church and from God for about a decade.

Looking back on this time in my life, I can see how society was being inverted, perverted and deceived. Hindsight is 20/20,  but I am grateful for God’s mercy and forgiveness for my own waywardness as a young adult. It took decades to realize how blinded I was by the world. I thank God for His infinite patience and goodness in my life.

I strayed away from formal religion for a decade … God was there, but I carried a lot of unforgiveness — mostly not forgiving myself.

I began to frequent non-denominational churches where the “preachin’ spoke right to the heart ” and the praise and worship team could put you in a joyful or sorrowful, contemplative mood with their contemporary soulful music. My work-a-holic life was chaotic, worldly and devoid of anything intimate — really. So, looking back, I seemed to be  driven to feel — to feel anything spiritual yet through a physical existence.

I went from a small intimate church to a very large mega church that broadcast internationally, had all the high-tech cameras, gadgets, professional graphics,  amazing music and anointed sermons, plus a Starbucks and gift shop  in the lobby — what more could a wayward Christian need?

But God had a different plan for my life.

What I hope you will find here is hope and knowledge and a deeper faith to know the love of God and what He has done for us as His sons and daughters …  We are “in” the world, but as Christians, we are not “of” the world.

Jesus looked towards heaven and prayed to His Father for His disciples saying, “I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I ask you to protect them from the evil one. They do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.” [John 17:14-17]

I have a story to tell. It is still being written.

I am so glad to be part of the Catholic faith.

As time permits, I hope to write more about my story.
In the meantime, I am working on humility, love of neighbor, poverty of spirit, obedience, joy, patience, perseverance, sorrow for sin, purity, courage, faith, hope, love of God and trust — oh, and Latin!

I have my work cut out for myself 🙂

Christ’s Peace Be With You.
